New Road Composting

A composting partnership rooted in stewardship, soil health, and local agriculture.

New Road Composting is a partnership between Lee’s Edible Acres and GoZERO, bringing composting operations to five dedicated acres on Ryan Lee’s farm in North Liberty, Indiana.

At Lee’s Edible Acres, the work is grounded in sustainable farming and the growing of high-quality, nutritionally dense seasonal vegetables. Through this partnership, that same care for the land is expanding into composting — creating a place where organic materials can be responsibly managed and returned to the soil in ways that strengthen both farm and community.

This partnership also reflects a shared belief in the circular value of compost. When food scraps are composted and returned to the land, they help build healthier soil. Healthier soil supports stronger, more nutrient-dense crops, and those crops in turn nourish healthier people and communities. New Road Composting is rooted in that cycle — one that connects food, soil, farming, and human well-being in a practical and lasting way.

A shared commitment

This partnership brings together two complementary strengths.

Lee’s Edible Acres offers a working farm rooted in sustainable growing and long-term care for the land. GoZERO brings experience in food waste diversion, composting systems, and the day-to-day operational discipline required to make composting work over time. Together, New Road Composting reflects a shared commitment to practical stewardship and stronger local infrastructure for organic recycling.

Why this partnership matters

New Road Composting represents an important next step for both partners. It expands GoZERO’s composting operations into Indiana, strengthening regional capacity and creating new opportunities for food waste to be managed closer to the communities where it is generated.

It also marks the first satellite composting location in what may become a broader model for future growth. As an early example of a locally rooted partnership supported by GoZERO’s systems and experience, New Road Composting offers a promising first step toward a model that is planned to be replicated in other communities over time.

Looking ahead

Composting works best when it is connected to the land and supported by people who understand both biology and responsibility. New Road Composting creates space for that work to happen in a setting where agricultural values and operational care can reinforce one another.

We’re proud to begin this work together and excited about what this means for this farm, for this region, and for the future of local composting.
